About the speakers

Armen Abazajian is currently a Senior Consultant at Advisian.  He is a process industry technology, market, and economics expert with a strong technology background and over 30 years of experience in consulting, engineering, and project execution, including 10 years with WorleyParsons/Advisian.  He is a serial innovator, inventor, and author in process technology and economics and is experienced in leading design and development efforts.

Chris Jansen is currently program manager and co-inventor for WorleyParsons’ robotic catalyst removal technology.  He is a chartered chemical engineer with a strong track record for innovation and problem solving in the oil and gas industry.  Chris developed his plant knowledge and process safety experience as a process support engineer at BP’s Bulwer Island Refinery in Brisbane.  He won the 2015 IChemE global award for young chemical engineer in industry.  Chris is now the lead developer of CAROLTM, the world’s first commercial catalyst unloading robot.

Scott Schroeder is currently Senior Technical Consultant at Advisian.  He has over 18 years of experience in the conceptual design, FEED/FEL, construction, and start-up of hydrocarbon processing facilities. His experience covers natural gas processing, natural gas liquids fractionation (NGL & LPG), refinery off-gas processing, gas and liquids treating, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities. In addition, he has worked on the development of several novel chemical and hydrocarbon processes. Scott Schroeder is the co-inventor of two patents, with a third patent pending.

Andrew W. Sloley is currently a Principal Consultant at Advisian. Andrew has worked in process technology development and unit revamps at Exxon, Glitsch, and other consulting firms. His background includes major work on refinery black oil units including crude, vacuum, FCC, hydrocracking, delayed coking, and visbreaking as well as light ends units. His specialty is the area of distillation, product recovery, and heat-integration. He has authored over 200 papers and technical presentations in these areas. Audiences have included the National Petrochemical and Refiner’s Association, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers. Publications have appeared in Hydrocarbon Processing, Oil and Gas Journal, Petroleum Technology Quarterly and others. He currently writes a monthly column on plant and process design and troubleshooting for Chemical Processing magazine. He is a graduate of the University of Tulsa and a registered professional engineer in the State of Texas.
