Case Study

Culzean North Sea

Culzen North Sea

The Culzean discovery is located in the North Sea in 90m water depth. Intecsea successfully provided the FEED and detail design for the Culzean Project on a tight schedule and with substantial cost savings.

The Challenge

To deliver FEED and Detail Design on a very tight schedule (three months for FEED and six months for detail design).

Our Approach

Intecsea were able to provide a comprehensive team covering all disciplines in one location (with added support from the Intecsea global community) that was able to work closely with the client’s team in an efficient manner to deliver the tight schedule.

Intecsea provided the FEED and Detailed Design for the following systems;

  • Gas Export System
  • Condensate Export System
  • Fuel Gas (FG) Pipeline
  • Riser Design
  • Flexible Riser Design
  • SSIV
  • PLEM
  • Riser Bases

Key areas to the project included: detailed flow assurance studies for both the gas export and condensate systems, innovative splitting of the PLEM structure to reduce installation vessel needs and maintain good overtrawlability of the structure.

The Results

Intecsea delivered a comprehensive detailed design riser, pipe-in-pipe and structural package to the installation contractor that included a complete set of specifications and drawings to go out for procurement quotes within the target tight schedule. The subsea element of the field is currently installed and the team continue to support the project during execution.
