Enhancing the Port of Eden's reputation as a safer boating destination

Eden Harbour Eden Harbour

Located about halfway between Sydney and Melbourne is the Port of Eden. This port supports a variety of recreational and commercial operations on the NSW far south coast including resident and visiting recreational yachts, the water police, a fishing fleet, tugs and cruise ships. Due to its exposure to strong winds and rough seas from the south, the Port of Eden can be viewed as challenging at times for moored vessels.

Responding to the challenge

A fixed panel wave attenuator structure has been proposed seaward of the port to create sheltered waterway conditions in its lee. Advisian’s team recently undertook the design and construction management of the new cruise ship berth in the Port of Eden, and were engaged to complete the studies, planning approval, and design of this wave attenuator. The design was developed based on site-specific wave data, weather history, environmental and geotechnical conditions while considering existing and future operations and constraints of the working port.

Port of Eden is now looking for a Construction Contractor

With a well-considered and adopted design, and with environmental approvals in place, Transport for NSW is now seeking tenders  for construction of the attenuator.
